ASC volleyball team falls to Fort Lewis in three games
DURANGO, Colo. – The Adams State College volleyball team dropped a three-game match to host Fort Lewis College on Saturday, 30-26, 30-27, 30-13.. The Grizzlies went into the contest expecting a tough match from the Skyhawks, whom they defeated 3-2 on Sept. 29 at Plachy Hall.
Adams State senior Tiffany Stockebrand (Alamosa, Colo.) turned in a stellar effort, registering 13 kills on 24 attack opportunities for a hitting percentage of .542 and added 13 digs. Gina Meyer (Blanding, Utah) had nine kills for the Grizzlies in 25 attacks and setter Ashly Heikes (Hartington, Neb.) had 30 assists for the match.
The Skyhawks were in top form against the Grizzlies, hammering the volleyball at as .340 hitting percentage clip, while limiting the ASC offensive attack to .078 percent for the match. Fort Lewis was led by Nicole Schwab, who registered 12 kills, while teammates Sara Feehan and Jessica Bailey each had nine kills. Schwab and Bailey each finished the match with a .571 hitting percentage.
The Grizzlies return home for their final two home matches next Friday and Saturday when they will take on New Mexico Highlands and Western New Mexico, respectively. Friday’s match against the Cowgirls is slated to begin at 7 p.m., while the match with the Mustangs is set to begin at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
