COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.— Adams State College redshirt freshman Seth Heinbaugh (Prescott, Ariz.) has been named as the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference/Baden West Division Player of the Week. Heinbaugh, who averaged 20.5 points and 10.5 rebounds in two Grizzly victories last week, is the second Grizzly to earn the honor this season joining 2-time winner Rece Hampton (Greenwood, Miss.).

Heinbaugh, a 6-foot-6, 210-pound forward, also shot a solid 62.5 percent (15-24) as the Grizzlies defeated Colorado State-Pueblo 65-60 on Tuesday night before edging arch-rival Western State 88-82 in double-overtime on Thursday.

In the process, the Grizzlies matched their 2006-07 win total of 16 and moved into a tie for third place in the overall RMAC standings with a 10-5 RMAC mark.

In Tuesday’s win over the ThunderWolves, Heinbaugh scored a career-high 23 points while grabbing eight rebounds during a 10-for-14 shooting effort. The Bradshaw Mountain High School product followed that up with 18 points and 13 rebounds in the road win at Western State. That effort was his second double-double of the season, both of which have come in the last four games.

In that stretch, Heinbaugh averaged 15.5 points and 8.8 rebounds as the Grizzlies have gone 3-1.

ASC, 16-7 overall, was ranked eighth in last year’s North Central Regional Rankings and is looking for a second straight trip to the NCAA Division II National Tournament.

The Grizzlies have four regular season games remaining, all of which are going to be critical, if the Grizzlies are going to secure a home playoff game in the quarterfinal round of the RMAC Tournament on Mar. 1. The top four teams earn that right.

ASC begins the stretch on Friday night at nationally-ranked Fort Lewis. Tip-off with the Skyhawks, who are now ranked 25th in the country, is at 8 p.m. and can be heard on KSPK-FM (103.5 & 104.1 in Alamosa) and via the internet at www.kspk.com.
