Palmer named RMAC/Baden Defensive Player of the Week

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.— Adams State College freshman libero AJ Palmer (Colorado Springs, Colo.) was named as the RMAC/Baden Defensive Player of the Week, late Monday by conference officials. The award is the first such recognition of Palmer’s young career.
The 5-foot-6 Rampart High School graduate, averaged 5.00 digs per set over the weekend as the Grizzlies defeated Chadron State in four sets on Friday after battling then No. 7-ranked the night prior. Palmer had a career-high 23 digs in the 4-set win over Chadron State and had a team-high 12 against the Lopers, who had won 22 straight matches before falling at Western State on Friday. She also had a service ace and two assists in each match and has had 20 or more digs four different times this season.
She is averaging 3.71 digs per set throughout this season.
Palmer is the third different Grizzly to earn a weekly award from the RMAC this season joining juniors Darcy Jennings (Lakin, Kan.) and Andrea Tuck (Erie, Colo.), who earned the offensive award on Sept. 8 and 29, respectively. Jennings also picked up the defensive honor on Sept. 22.
