Grizzlies begin spring exhibition season at home
ALAMOSA, Colo.— The Adams State College volleyball team will begin their spring exhibition season this Saturday when the Grizzlies host Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference rivals Colorado Mines and Fort Lewis as well as Lamar Community College in a tournament to be held in Plachy Hall.
Action begins at 10 a.m. and will be on a rolling round-robin schedule. Each match will be played in a 3-set format with the first two sets being played to 25 points. The third set of each match will be played to 15 points.
The Lindy Mortensen coached Grizzlies will also be competing at the University of Northern Colorado’s Spring Tournament on Apr.4 in Greeley and at the Colorado Mines Tournament on Apr. 18 in Golden.
At the Northern Colorado Tournament, the Grizzlies will face Northeastern Junior College, Northern Colorado’s Blue Team and Regis in pool play at 9:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m. and 2 p.m., respectively. They will also play one more match in cross-bracket play against teams from the other pool, which includes Northern Colorado Gold, Western Nebraska Community College, Metro State and Wyoming.
The Grizzlies will play RMAC rivals Colorado Christian, UC-Colorado Springs and Colorado State-Pueblo in pool play at the Colorado Mines Tournament, which is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. and be on a rolling schedule throughout the day. They will also have one other crossover match later that afternoon against one of the four teams from the other pool, possibilities of which include Colorado Mines, Mesa State, Metro State and Regis.
The Grizzlies have posted winning records and have advanced to the semifinals of the RMAC Tournament in each of the past two fall seasons.
