Men's Soccer to report to preseason Sunday
Nolker to guide Grizzlies in inaugural season

ALAMOSA, Colo. – For the first time ever, Adams State College will sponsor a men’s soccer team and on Sunday (Aug. 16), that squad will report to Plachy Hall for check-in before beginning a week-long preseason the next day.
The team will run an average of three practices a day in conjunction with the women’s second week of preseason. These sessions will feature time in the weight room, on the playing field and in the classroom.
On Wednesday, Aug. 20 the men’s and women’s squads will host Western Wyoming Community College in scrimmages at Murphy Field. The women kick off at noon while the men will continue the action at 2 p.m.
On Sunday, Aug. 23, both teams will hold Green and White intra-squad scrimmages with the women slated to begin at 1 p.m. while the men will get under way at 3 p.m.
At the helm of the men's team will be head coach Josh Nolker under the guidance of Tom Cliff, the Grizzlies' head women's coach and now director of soccer. Nolker, a St. Louis, Mo., native, assisted Cliff with the coaching of the women’s team last year and begins his first year as a collegiate head coach.
After being selected first team all-conference as a senior at Greenville (Ill.) High School, Nolker continued his playing career as a defender at Danville (Ill.) Junior College for two years. He then transferred to Adams State in the fall of 2008 and is a junior business major.
The Adams State men’s soccer team will see their first regular season action on Aug. 27 when the team travels to Mesa State to take on the Mavericks. The squad then faces Fort Lewis, winners of four straight RMAC Tournament and four of the last five RMAC regular season titles, on Aug. 30 before returning home to Murphy Field to kick off the home portion of their schedule against the Mountain Lions of UC-Colorado Springs on Sept. 1 at 3:30 p.m.
