Grizzly men's soccer to play Green & White scrimmage Sunday

ALAMOSA – With nearly a week of practice under its belt and less than a week away from kicking off the 2010 campaign, the Adams State men’s soccer team will welcome friends, family and fans to Murphy Field on Sunday afternoon for the annual Green & White intersquad scrimmage at 3 p.m.
The Grizzly men will take the field following the women’s Green & White intersquad scrimmage, which will begin at 1 p.m.
First-year head coach Tim Busen guided his young team in their first scrimmage last Saturday after only one practice. The Grizzlies, returning just five letterwinners from their inaugural 2009 season and featuring 24 freshmen, barely knew each other’s names before taking the field against Laramie County (Wyo.) CC.
For their second scrimmage, Busen will have a better chance to evaluate his new charges now that they’ve had a full week to get to know each other and practice together, and will be able to use the opportunity to begin finalizing a lineup for the Grizzlies season-opener.
The Adams State soccer teams will open their 2010 soccer seasons with a men’s and women’s twin bill at Murphy Field on Friday, September 3, beginning at 12:30 p.m. when the men face-off against Eastern New Mexico.
