Grizzlies swimming holds Green & White scrimmage Saturday
Fourteen swimmers swam in 15 events for the Grizzlies in their preseason intersquad meet on Saturday afternoon.

ALAMOSA, Colo. – Just two weeks out from the start of their 2010-11 season, the Adams State men’s and women’s swimming teams took to the Plachy Hall Pool for their Green & White Scrimmage Saturday afternoon.
Fourteen swimmers, nine from the ASC women’s squad and five from the newly resurrected men’s team, competed in 15 events, inclcuding 200m medley and 400m freestyle co-ed relays. In addition to giving the Grizzlies a feel for the atmosphere of a meet, Saturday’s competitive setting also allowed head coach Rebecca Sturdy a chance to evaluate her swimmers in a more pressurized setting than practice.
“What I saw in this team was that we’ve got some really tough people,” said Sturdy. “We had some really good comebacks mid-race and we saw a lot of really good things from all of them today, and I’m impressed and cautiously optimistic for the season.”
The Grizzlies will begin their season at noon on Saturay, Oct. 2, when they welcome to Colorado Mines and Mesa State to the Plachy Hall Pool for the Adams State Duals, an RMAC event.
