Time Change: Saturday's swimming duals at Plachy Hall Pool moved back to 1 p.m. start
Originally scheduled for noon, Adams State Duals will now start at 1 p.m.

ALAMOSA – Saturday's Adams State Duals, hosted by the Grizzly men’s and women’s swimming teams at the Plachy Hall Pool, will now begin at 1 p.m. The three-way dual meet between the Grizzlies and Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference opponents Mesa State and Colorado Mines was originally scheduled to begin at 12 p.m.
The meet will serve as the season-opener between all three teams and will be the only RMAC swimming action of the season’s opening weekend.
Saturday will mark the first competition for an Adams State men’s swimming team since the program was disbanded in the 1970s.
Colorado Mines was picked to finish third in the 2010-11 RMAC Men’s Swimming & Diving Preseason Poll released last week, while Mesa State and Adams State were picked to finish fifth and sixth, respectively. The meet will be the first-ever college meet for all six members of the ASC men’s team.
On the women’s side of the 2010-11 RMAC Swimming & Diving Preseason Poll, Mesa State was picked to finish third, while Colorado Mines was tabbed for sixth and the Grizzlies were slated for ninth in the league. The Grizzlies return only one swimmer from a year ago, sophomore Madison Hill (Tucson, Ariz.). Hill posted the best times in the 50-yard free (27.46 seconds) and the 100-yard fly (1:03.68) for the Grizzlies during the 2009-10 season. She also set the Plachy Hall Pool record in the ladder event last season in a dual with Mesa State, and is the only Grizzly to hold a venue record.
The ASC women got familiar with Mesa State and Mines last season, facing the Mavericks in five duals and the Orediggers three times. The Grizzlies didn’t record a victory against either team, but had their closest match against Mesa State in a dual at the Plachy Hall Pool.
