Grizzlies to face top-ranked Colorado Mines on the road Sunday
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Click here to view the seventh Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference men’s soccer release of the 2010 season. Included in Tuesday’s release are Players of the Week, league standings, recent results, upcoming games and a look at national and regional polls.
Adams State junior midfielder Joseph Jallow (Oldjeshwang, Gambia) found the net in the midst of an 8-1 loss to 16th-ranked Regis on Sunday for the first goal of his career, and gives him four points for the season.
The Grizzlies (0-11, 0-7 RMAC) continue to rank second in the RMAC in saves with 107 as a team. Freshman keepers Dillon Lee (Arvada, Colo.) and Paul Pizza (Alamosa, Colo.) continue to rank in the top three in individual saves, with 54 and 49, respectively. Additionally, Pizza is second in savers per game with 6.12, and Lee’s 6.00 saves per game is good for third in the league.
ASC will be on the road for two this weekend, beginning with a match-up at Colorado Christian (1-11, 1-7 RMAC) on Friday afternoon at 1 p.m. The Grizzlies suffered a heartbreaking loss to the Cougars in their first meeting of the season on Sept. 19, as Colorado Christian scored the game-winner with only 20 seconds remaining in the second overtime. Then on Sunday the Grizzlies face off against No. 1-ranked Colorado Mines (10-0-1, 7-0-1 RMAC). The Grizzlies have yet to face the Orediggers this fall, who began the season ranked 18th in the nation, but have been the top-ranked team according to the National Soccer Coaches’ Association of America for the last three weeks.
