ALAMOSA, Colo.— Adams State College basketball fans can get a sneak peek at the 2010-11 Grizzly men’s and women’s teams as both programs will co-host the Basketball Bash Saturday night in Plachy Hall.
Activities begin at approximately 10 p.m. following the Grizzlies’ first ever home night football game at Rex Stadium, which kicks-off at 7 p.m., and the Grizzly volleyball team’s match against New Mexico Highlands, which will begin at 5 p.m in Plachy Hall.
Admission to the Basketball Bash, which will run until about 11:30 p.m., is free for all fans. Free pizza, popcorn and drinks will also be provided.
The activities are plentiful and door prizes will be given throughout the night. A free throw shooting contest will also be held giving fans a chance to win a Grizzly basketball t-shirt for just $2. The evening will also be capped with a shootout giving one lucky fan a chance to win tuition and books for a semester by making a layup, free throw, 3-point shot and half-court shot, all in 30 seconds.
In between, the Grizzly men’s and women’s teams will be introduced. Members of the women’s teams will hold a 3-point shooting contest while the men’s squad will have a slam-dunk contest. The two teams will also clash head-to-head in a hot shot completion giving fans a chance to cheer for their favorite team and players.
Grizzly athletic department officials also took time to remind fans about Saturday’s San Luis Valley Night promotion. As part of the promotion, all San Luis Valley high school students with a letter jacket or valid student ID will be admitted to both events for free. Furthermore, all other San Luis Valley residents can gain admission to both events for the price of one.
