Women's Indoor Track & Field

Adams State indoor track and field athlete Indira Spence has been named as the ASCGrizzlies.com Athlete of the Week award for the week ending Feb. 27.

Spence was a triple-winner at the RMAC Championships winning the 60 and 200-meter dashes and the 60-meter hurdles, all in Cushing Fieldhouse record times (breaking her own 2008 records).  She also broke her own 2010 RMAC Championship meet record time in the 60-meter hurdles. In addition to that she was named as the RMAC Indoor Track & Field Athlete of the Year.
 
The ASCGrizzlies.com Athlete of the Week award, which will be handed out weekly, was selected by a vote of media members and ASC athletic administrators as well as by visitors to the Grizzly website, who could cast their vote in an online poll.

Spence received seven of the eight first place votes cast by the media members and administrators and was tied for second in the online portion of the voting with men’s basketball player Deray Wilson, the previous week’s winner who took third overall this week.

Meanwhile, women’s basketball player Vera Jo Bustos won the online portion of the voting while finishing second overall.

Other nominees were junior Rebecca Lindquist of the softball team, Kenny Jordan of the wrestling team, Chanson Miller of the men’s lacrosse team, Wesley Lavong of the men’s indoor track and field team, and Brandon Lutz of the junior varsity basketball team.
