Adams State College sophomore receiver and return man Scott Kellogg (Littleton, Colo.), has been named as the ASCGrizzlies.com Athlete of the Week for week ending on Oct 31.
Kellogg averaged an impressive 40.5 yards per kick return as he returned four kicks for 162 yards against 16th-ranked Colorado Mines in last Saturday’s football game in Golden. He had two returns of 50 or more yards, including one for a career-long 60 yards. Kellogg also caught three passes for 38 yards in the game finishing the contest with 200 all-purpose yards, the most of any Grizzly this season.
The ASCGrizzlies.com Athlete of the Week award, which will be handed out weekly, was selected by a vote of media members and ASC athletic administrators as well as by visitors to the Grizzly website, who could cast their vote in an online poll.
Kellogg ran away with the honors this week as he claimed six of eight first-place votes of administrators and media members, while also earning one second place and one third place vote. Women’s freshman soccer player Whitney Smith finished in second place by nabbing the other two first place votes.
Smith won the online voting by getting 36.8 percent of the 95 votes cast online. Kellogg was third with 26.3 percent of the votes.
Other nominees were Megan Tapia of the volleyball squad and Dillon Lee of the men’s soccer squad.
