Ryan Dodd was recently hired as Adams State College’s assistant men’s basketball coach.

He comes to the Grizzly program from Moorpark (Calif.) College, where he served as the Raiders’ assistant coach during the 2009-10 season helping the team to a 16-10 record and an appearance in the state playoffs.  For the previous three seasons, Dodd served on the staff at California State University-Northridge along with new Grizzly head coach Louis Wilson.

While there, Dodd served as the Matadors’ director of basketball operations for the 2007-08 and 2008-09 seasons after serving as the video coordinator for the 2006-07 campaign.

Fulfilling those vital rolls, Dodd helped the Matadors claim a share of the Big West Conference’s regular season title in 2007-08 before winning the regular season title outright while claiming the conference’s tournament championship and the automatic berth into the NCAA Tournament a year later.

A native of Los Angeles and Orange County, Dodd had earlier served as the associate head coach at Servite High School in Anaheim, Calif., where he graduated from in 1992.  During his 2-season, 2004-06 coaching stint with head coach Brian Kenney and the Friars, Dodd helped guide the squad to a combined 38-22 record and back-to-back appearances in the semifinals of the CIF Division III playoffs.

During his high school playing days, Dodd helped the Friars win a California state title in 1990 and a CIF crown in 1991.

He then played at Cypress Junior College in Cypress, Calif. during the 1995-96 season and graduated from UCLA in 2000 with a degree in sociology.

Dodd, 35, and his wife Rosie are the proud parents of son Drake, who is 1.

“Ryan is a hard-working recruiter with national junior college ties and strong California high school connections,” Wilson said. “He is very versatile in that he can coach, recruit, organize and handle all facets of our program operations.  We are very fortunate to have him with us at Adams State,” he continued.
